Breastfeeding in public

So this seems to be a common issue with so many women.

I’m not comfortable breastfeeding in public.
I’m worried about what somebody will say or the look I’ll get
I don’t like having to sit on a toilet seat to feed my baby

These are all common comments women make to me.  It is a comfort level to breastfeed in public.  The good news is that most stores, malls and even grocery stores are building in rooms or private spaces where women can now feed their babies in privacy.  If you nurse on demand, another great thing is if you are only going out for a short time, you can give your little one a nice top up and then go out.  They won’t need to eat again for a bit.

Surrounding ourselves with supportive people makes a huge difference.  Find your local la leche league and go to a meeting.  There are other women there who can provide support for you as they too have gone through this.

If you have any thoughts, views or ideas to help give other readers any support or ideas on how to breastfeed comfortably in public, please respond to me.  tcarey@latchwithme.com or http://www.latchwithme.com
